…simply isn’t that hard.  I’ve got to say, Reg Braithwaite’s blog has been a very serendipitous find.  I stumbled onto his site a few days ago when looking for some rails answers and instead found a programming panacea.  This guy has it figured out, and I wish I had someone like him to learn from/interact with every day.
