Open-Source Oracle Alternative?

Came across this article, touting a new player in the OSS RDBMS field.  It’s yet to be determined how real their claims are, but it does seem to be a real panacea.  Does this make it easier for developers to test the limits of Oracle, instead of designing for a more generic database and hoping for the best?  Or would it just be easier to just use the Oracle Express Edition?  Does anyone think that EnterpriseDB can really pull this off?
